Dr. Juan F. Espinosa Parrilla
(Chief Science Officer, CSO)

Dr Juan F. Espinosa got his degree in Biology in Barcelona in 2001 and started his career in the field of Neurobiology. In 2005 he obtained his PhD in Cell Biology and Neurobiology at the prestigious group of Neurobiology of Development and Neuroregeneration from Barcelona University. After that he moved to the Centre for Applied Medicine Research (CIMA) in Pamplona working in clinical research for Parkinson’s disease. From 2006 to 2008 he stayed at the French CNRS in Marseille as electrophysiologist improving his skills in the field of Neurophysiology. Always willing to continue making research in the field of Neurobiology, he returned to Barcelona as Postdoctoral Researcher in the Neurochemistry Group led by Prof. Nicole Mahy. In July 2009 he was appointed CSO for Neurotec Pharma where he is responsible for R+D of the company.

Pilar Mancera
(Researcher and Lab. Manager)

Pilar Mancera got their degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry in Rovira i Virgili Tarragona in 2005 and 2008 respectively. From 2007 to 2009 she started his career in Neurobiology at the Department of Cerebral Ischemia and Neurodegeneration from IIBB-CSIC in Barcelona. She was working in clinical research for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), doing several techniques as primary microglial and astroglial cultures, western blot, real time-pcr, genotyping, maintenance of mSOD1 transgenic mice, etc. In May 2009 she joined to Neurotec Pharma as lab manager.

Noemí Virgili Treserres
(Researcher and PhD student)

Noemí Virgili got the degree in Biochemistry in Rovira i Virgili University Tarragona in 2006. After that, she got Master’s degree in Biomedicine in Barcelona and started her scientific career in the company Advanced in vitro Cell Technologies (Advancell) in 2007. She was involved in different R+D projects for the company mainly working in the in vitro field. In 2008 Noemi started her career as researcher in neurological diseases in Neurotec Pharma centring her work principally in cell and animal models for the study of Multiple Sclerosis. In 2008 she also initiated pre-doctoral studies in neuroscience in the University of Barcelona.

Andrea Pastén Zamorano
(Researcher and PhD student)

Andrea Pastén got the degree in Kinesiology (study of the human movement), in 2002 in Chile. There, she was dedicated to neuro-rehabilitation of neurological diseases and spinal cord injuries until she moved to Barcelona in 2004. In 2007 obtained the master degree in Neuroscience in the Barcelona University. Andrea started the research in the Neurochemistry Group of Barcelona University working with BV-2 microgial cell line. She joined Neurotec Pharma on 2009 as researcher. She also initiated PhD studies with specific interest in molecular and cellular mechanism involved in the pathogenesis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
